“5/24 Principle” of Chase Credit Card Application

If you have applied for 5 or more personal credit cards within the last 24 months, your new application will be more possible to be turned down. This is called as the “5/24 Principle” of Chase Credit Card application.

The “5 or more” mentioned here does not only refer to Chase credit cards, but also includes any kind of personal credit cards, for example:

  • The personal credit cards you can apply for from Citi, Chase, Amex, Discover, Capital One and so on. Even though some of the cards has been closed, they are still accounted into “5/24 Principle” since they have been applied within the recent 24 months;
  • The personal credit cards you can apply for from Macy’s , Amazon and so on;
  • If you use a credit card secondary card from others, this card will be accounted as well;
  • Most enterprise and business credit cards are NOT applied to the “5/24 Principle”;
